The Faculty of International Relations at Yerevan State University hosted Khalil Shirgholami, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia, to promote educational and academic cooperation and discuss a range of regional and international issues.
Welcoming the attendees, the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Associate Professor, PhD in Political Science, Tigran Yepremyan, emphasized the importance of the long-standing friendly relations between Armenia and Iran.
It was noted that educational and academic collaboration is one of the key pillars of strengthening bilateral ties, especially in a context where geopolitical developments demand in-depth analysis and professional expertise.
In his remarks, Ambassador Khalil Shirgholami addressed ongoing regional processes, security challenges, prospects for economic cooperation, and opportunities to expand cultural ties. He stressed the role of young diplomats and international relations scholars as future decision-makers and trust-builders between states.
During the meeting, students had the opportunity to ask questions regarding Iran's foreign policy priorities, regional connectivity, and academic exchange programs. The active and constructive discussion underscored once again the importance of such formats for fostering collaboration between universities and diplomatic missions.
At the conclusion of the visit, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening educational and academic ties in support of further strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries.
