At the initiative of the Student Scientific Society (SSS) of the Faculty of International Relations at Yerevan State University, a meeting was organized with Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Armen Ghazaryan. The meeting aimed to provide students with a detailed overview of the ministry's activities and the ongoing large-scale reforms within the system.
The deputy minister presented the background to the establishment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and its institutional structure. He placed particular emphasis on police reforms and the introduction of the patrol service, which, according to him, has introduced a new culture in ensuring public safety.
The discussion also addressed issues related to migration policy, in particular the functions of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and ongoing efforts toward digitalization in the sector.
Armen Ghazaryan also highlighted the importance of international cooperation, underscoring joint programs implemented with the European Union and other partners. He noted that the introduction of international standards within the internal affairs system is a priority, contributing to the strengthening of human rights protection.
The meeting took place in an active and interactive atmosphere, during which SSS members raised a number of questions of interest. Topics discussed included details of the visa liberalization process, mechanisms for combating cybercrime, and employment prospects for young specialists within the ministry. The deputy minister responded to all questions and encouraged students to be proactive and engaged in the development of the public administration system.
Concluding the meeting, Chair of the Student Scientific Society of the Faculty of International Relations Karine Arakelyan expressed gratitude to the guest and emphasized the importance of such meetings and discussions for students in gaining practical insight into the country's internal security policy.
