The recipients of YSU's nominal scholarships for the 2025–2026 academic year have been announced. Four students from the YSU Faculty of Economics and Management—Ani Hovhannisyan, Benik Balayan, Adrine Avetisyan, and Ani Amirkhanyan—have been awarded these scholarships in recognition of their academic excellence, active student engagement, and contributions to university life.
Yerevan State University fosters student initiative and professional growth by creating an environment that combines knowledge with values, teamwork, and leadership thinking. The student community at the Faculty of Economics and Management is known for its active involvement: every student has the opportunity to express themselves, engage in scientific, social, and cultural initiatives, and shape their professional paths.
Benik Balayan, a third-year student in the "Management" bachelor's program, President of the Faculty Student Council, and one of the most active and initiative-driven students, emphasizes, "At YSU, the most valuable aspect is the people—the lecturers, friends, and the very environment where one develops their thinking, sense of responsibility, and leadership mindset. University not only provides knowledge but also the opportunity to discover yourself and grow every single day. One must not be afraid, be proactive, and not only focus on learning but also on building relationships and developing skills. University is the best place to try, make mistakes, and get stronger."
When asked what she would change in her decisions if she were a first-year student again, and why, Ani Hovhannisyan, a third-year student in the "Management" educational program, says, "In the first year, everything was new—the environment, the people, and the expectations. I was trying to manage everything at once, without yet understanding what truly mattered. If I were a first-year student again, I would approach things more calmly and consciously, be more confident, not fear making mistakes, and learn from every experience. To first-year students, I would say: taking studying seriously from the very beginning is the smartest decision you can make. Studying is not just for grades or exams; it shapes you as a professional and as a thinking individual."
Students at the Faculty of Economics and Management value the university not only for the knowledge it provides but also for the opportunities for self-education, personal growth, and new experiences. Many students fully realize the importance of making the most of these opportunities only in the upper years of study.
For Ani Amirkhanyan, a fourth-year student in the "Finance" bachelor's program, receiving a nominal scholarship serves as new motivation to continue her studies with the same consistency and even greater dedication, while strengthening her professional competencies.
"YSU gives you the confidence that every student can contribute to university life—through scientific research, student initiatives, or simply by being curious. YSU is not just a university; it is a place where we have discovered ourselves as thinkers, as individuals, and as future professionals who want to contribute to the country's development," says the final-year student.
Many students of the faculty take full advantage of the wide range of opportunities offered by the university—from professional development and participation in international programs to mentoring initiatives and internships in government institutions, the financial sector, and well-known private organizations. The fact that the majority of students work in their chosen field is strong evidence that the faculty's educational environment is effective and aligned with labor market demands.
Adrine Avetisyan, a fourth-year student in the "Finance" educational program, also encourages newcomers to embrace activity and engagement: "I would advise first-year students not to fear the 'new', the 'unknown', or challenges. At first, everything may seem daunting and uncertain, but it is precisely in those moments that you are tempered—these experiences lay the foundation for your future achievements. It is preferable to participate in scientific, social, and cultural initiatives at the university. Equally important is developing new skills, reading a lot, and cultivating all of your strengths. Every opportunity can become the starting point of your future success. If I were a first-year student again, I would dedicate more time to self-education. University years pass very quickly, and every moment can be used more effectively to discover your potential and develop new skills."
Students of the YSU Faculty of Economics and Management are confident that the university is the place where one can try, learn, and establish themselves both as a professional and as an individual. Their stories demonstrate that success at YSU is accessible to anyone ready to uncover their potential and commit to the path of growth.
