YSU Faculty of Law, together with the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ), organized a summer school titled "Current Issues in Data Protection" in Goris, Syunik Province.

The summer school took place from June 23 to 25 and was attended by 34 students from various universities across Armenia, including Yerevan State University, French University in Armenia, Shirak State University, and Goris State University.
The opening and welcoming remarks were delivered by Anna Margaryan, Head of the Chair of Criminal Law at YSU Faculty of Law, Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor, and Nelly Tumasyan, Program Coordinator at the IRZ Yerevan office.

The summer school covered several topics related to current challenges in data protection, addressing both Armenian domestic law and relevant international legal frameworks and practices from other countries.
Criminal law perspectives on current issues and development trends in data protection in Armenia were presented by Professor Anna Margaryan and Gevorg Barseghyan, lecturer at the Chair of Criminal Law.
Lawyer and Professor Marcus Helfrich, based at a university in Munich, provided an in-depth overview of the international, European, and constitutional law perspectives on data protection.
Professor Marcus Helfrich led discussions on the following topics:

Data as a subject of special protection,
Sanctions for data protection violations (administrative and criminal liability),
Data protection in virtual environments, the internet, and related areas.
Participants had the opportunity to ask questions and receive detailed answers.
At the conclusion of the summer school, all participating students were awarded certificates of participation.
