The inaugural session of the newly resumed Philological Readings series was held at the Chair of History of Armenian Literature and Literary Theory after Academician Hr. Tamrazyan.
During the seminar-discussion organized for faculty members and students, Professor Zhenya Kalantaryan delivered a keynote lecture titled "Eastern Culture in Avetik Isahakyan's Folklore Adaptations."
The speaker addressed the complex relationship between Eastern and Western cultures, highlighting Isahakyan's deep fascination with the East. Professor Kalantaryan presented various samples of folklore adaptations from diverse Eastern traditions—including Chinese, Indian, and Arabic cultures—while analyzing their unique characteristics and primary ideological layers.
The session was highly engaging and concluded with an active and insightful discussion among the participants.
