1. Admission criteria/requirements
The applicant for the program must have a secondary education or an equivalent qualification;
· Admission of applicants with secondary education or equivalent qualifications is carried out on a competitive basis based on the results of the entrance exams.
The admission is carried out according to the admission regulations of universities. The applicant passes written exams in "The Armenian language and literature" and "Foreign language".
2. Programme Objectives
Programme objectives
The program aims to:
· to prepare professionals oriented to work in the scientific and educational system, who will be able to:
· to analyze and coordinate data related to the fields of linguistics and literary studies,
· to perform linguistic and literary analyses, editorial, and translation work.
3. Educational outcomes of the programme

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  1. Professional knowledge and understanding
    1. բացատրել լեզվական տարբեր մակարդակների միավորների վերլուծման սկզբունքները (բառակազմական, ձևաբանական, շարահյուսական վերլուծություն),
    2. ներկայացնել գրական որևէ ստեղծագործություն և վերլուծել այն,
    3. որոշել տեքստերի լեզվաոճական առնձնահատկությունները,
    4. մատնանշել գրական երկերի ժանրային առանձնահատկությունները,
    5. անվանել ուսումնասիրության ոլորտին առնչվող գիտական հասկացությունները,
    6. դասակարգել գրաբարի, բարբառների, ժամանակակից արևելահայերենի ու արևմտահայերենի լեզվական տարբեր իրողությունների վերաբերող փաստեր,
    7. հիմնավորել կատարած ուսումնասիրության արդյունքները։
  2. Practical professional skills
    1. վերլուծել բառեր, նախադասություններ, գրական ստեղծագործություններ,
    2. կատարել խմբագրական, սրբագրական և թարգմանչական աշխատանքներ,
    3. օգտագործել բնագրային նյութեր՝ լեզվաոճական, բարբառագիտական և գրականագիտական ուսումնասիրությունների համար,
    4. ընտրել ուսումնասիրության համար անհրաժեշտ բանավոր կամ գրավոր փաստական նյութ,
    5. գնահատել գիտական տարբեր տեսակետներ ու մոտեցումներ,
    6. նկարագրել ուսումնասիրությանն առնչվող փաստական նյութը,
    7. հակադրել և համադրել եղած փաստական նյութին առնչվող տվյալները,
    8. կիրառել տեսական գիտելիքները գրականագիտական և լեզվական ուսւմնասիրությունների ժամանակ։
  3. General (transferable) competences
    1. օգտվել տեղեկատվության տարատեսակ աղբյուրներից,
    2. վերլուծել լեզվաբանական և գրականագիտական առկա խնդիրները և որոշել դրանց լուծման եղանակները,
    3. օժանդակել խմբային աշխատանքների կազմակերպմանը,
    4. քննարկել ծագած խնդիրները և աջակցելու դրանց լուծման աշխատանքներին։
4. Assessment methods
At YSU, there is a multi-factor system of periodic verification and evaluation of a student's knowledge, which includes the following components:
1. assessment of mastering the sub-sections of the course (academic module) during the semester (2 mid-term exams),
2. mid-term check-ups of individual topics of the course (academic module) during the semester,
3. verification and assessment of the implementation and assimilation of independent tasks provided by the program during the semester (independent work),
4. evaluation of independent and/or group research planned by the program during the semester (research that replaces any of the mid-term exams),
5. evaluation of participation in the course,
6. final assessment of the entire course (academic module) in the exam period, which implies assessing the level of achievement of the educational outcomes set for the course.
Based on the workload of the courses (academic modules) provided by the curriculum of the educational program, the form of training, teaching methods, and taking into account the importance of the course in the formation of professional knowledge and abilities of the student, the courses are divided into 4 groups according to the assessment form:
1. with the final assessment,
2. without final assessment,
3. without evaluation of mid-term exams,
4. check-ups.
5. Graduates future career opportunities
Graduates of the "Armenian Language and Literature" program can work in scientific and educational institutions, such as:
· RA state and private universities,
· public schools,
· Matenadaran,
· Institutes of language and literature of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia
· house-museums,
· libraries,
· various educational and cultural institutions
· editorial offices,
· publishing houses,
· offices.
· Graduates of the program can continue their studies at YSU, as well as at the Master's program of various educational institutions.

scientific discussions and debates,
· meetings with writers and cultural figures,
· electronic resources.

8. Requirements for the academic staff
1. General Abilities
Teaching/Pedagogical
· ability to make a work program (calendar plan) for the course,
· Knowledge of interactive teaching methods, and ability to use active learning techniques.
Research
· the ability to do scientific work,
· the ability to use Internet information resources,
· ability to analyze linguistic or literary research,
· the ability to lead a research group.
Communication
· oral communication skills,
· ability to analyze the performed scientific research, group the results, and present them,
· good/excellent knowledge of any foreign language.
ICT application
· basic computer skills (fluency in MS Office package: Word, Excel, Power-Point),
· the ability to use modern social platforms,
· skills to prepare and present presentations (pptx, Prezi, canva, etc.).
Other abilities
· knowledge of professional ethics and legal norms,
· Ability to plan and manage time resources.
2. Professional Abilities
· Ability to interpret and analyze current linguistic or literary issues,
· Ability to perform linguistic or literary research and analysis,
· ability to form oral and written communication culture,
· ability to prepare and deliver public speeches,
· ability to edit texts and prepare for publication,
· practical skill in presenting methodological features of linguistic or literary works.
3. General requirements
Academic degree
· a scientific degree and/or degree in philology, or, in some cases, a master's degree obtained at a foreign university in a given or related specialty,
· availability of at least 5 scientific and/or methodical publications in the last 5 years (in international journals and/or periodicals approved by RA Supreme Certifying Committee),
· at least participation in conferences and/or workshops in the last 5 years.
Pedagogical experience
· at least 3 years of experience in teaching professional courses and/or conducting training,
· participation in local or international training and/or professional qualification improvement courses during the last 5 years,
Practical experience
· at least 5 years of work experience in the field of philology.
Other requirements
· teaching portfolio: availability of online materials for at least 50% of taught subjects,
· the average of grades obtained by the results of the student survey at least 4.0 (for active professors).
