The first National Student Cyber Exercise of Armenia was held, with YSU students selected among the top 15 participants to form the national student cyber team.
The second, group phase of the exercise took place as part of this groundbreaking initiative, which aims to enhance students' cybersecurity skills while strengthening the country's overall cyber resilience. Over the previous five months, more than 200 students from leading universities and educational institutions across Armenia competed for a place on the national student cyber team. After a competitive and intense process, the 60 best students advanced to the final stage of the exercise.
The final stage, lasting ten hours and including both individual and team challenges, identified the top 15 participants, who will form Armenia's national student cyber team and represent the country at the 2026 European Cybersecurity Challenge.
YSU Informatics and Applied Mathematics students Adelina Zakharyan and Sandro Hakobyan achieved outstanding results, securing first and second place, respectively. Additionally, in the individual competition, YSU student Zhenya Mirzoyan won the honorable first place, while four other students from the faculty earned prize-winning positions.
The National Student Cyber Exercise is part of the long-term strategy of the Information Systems Agency of Armenia (ISAA) to build a digitally secure future and develop a new generation of cybersecurity leaders. Held annually, the exercise seeks to foster a dynamic and goal-oriented community of cyber defenders. The initiative is organized jointly by ISAA and the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, in collaboration with Armenian universities and educational institutions.
