Associate Professor of the Chair of Botany and Mycology at the YSU Faculty of Biology, PhD in Biology Narine Zakaryan, and Senior Laboratory Assistant of the same chair, PhD in Biology Nune Kartashyan, have been seconded to the University of Burgundy (France) within the framework of the "Promotion of Scientific Efficiency" grant program of the Higher Education and Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.
The aim of the visit was to expand scientific cooperation with the project partner, Professor Anne-Claire Mitaine-Offer of the University of Burgundy, and to explore modern methods for researching biologically active compounds in plants.
As part of the visit, a workshop was organized with the participation of researchers from the Faculty of Life, Earth and Environmental Sciences, during which Narine Zakaryan presented research on the biodiversity and bioactivity of essential oil-bearing plants in Armenia, as well as the scientific and educational activities carried out at the Chair of Botany and Mycology at Yerevan State University.
The planned work under the project, focused on identifying plant chemotypes and assessing pharmacological activity, was discussed with researchers from the Pharmacognosy Laboratory of the University of Burgundy.
The grant project titled "Biodiversity and bioactivity of wild essential oil-bearing plants of the Lamiaceae family in Armenia" funded by the Higher Education and Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia aims to promote scientific and educational cooperation between the University of Burgundy and Yerevan State University in the study of the pharmacological properties of Armenian plants. The project fosters research capacity, introduces modern methodologies, supports the professional development of young scientists, and expands international scientific cooperation, while also promoting the publication of joint research results in reputable international scientific journals.
