General information
Changes in ecosystems have a negative impact on biodiversity. Bats are sensitive to anthropogenic changes. They are nocturnal, using ultrasonic signals for orientation and hunting. The study of these will provide an opportunity to understand their behavioral characteristics and the factors influencing vocalizations. This method allows the assessment of relationships between mother and pup, male and female, as well as behavioral changes related to the mating season and preparation for hibernation. Recordings were made using SM4 BAT and Batlogger C recording devices. The collected bat acoustic data will be analyzed using Kaleidoscope, Avisoft SASLab Pro, and BatExplorer software for species identification, habitat use evaluation, and behavioral analysis. The main goal of the project is to record and analyze ultrasonic signals in maternity colonies and feeding areas. Possible differences in signals between sexes and age groups will be identified. For the first time in Armenia, a database of ultrasonic signals of different bat species will be created. The study will provide important information on the life activity of bats and the negative factors influencing them.
