General information
The project is devoted to the study of the dependence of vacuum properties of quantum fields on the geometry and topology of spacetime. The local characteristics of scalar and fermionic vacua in Rindler spacetime with compact spatial dimensions will be investigated. The vacuum expectation values of the field squared and the energy–momentum tensor will be considered. In particular, these include the vacuum energy density and vacuum stresses. The topological contributions to the vacuum expectation values will be separated, and their dependence on acceleration, the lengths of compact dimensions, and the phases in quasiperiodicity conditions along those dimensions will be analyzed. By employing the conformal relation between Rindler spacetime and other geometries—such as spaces of constant negative curvature, the Milne universe, and de Sitter spacetime—the corresponding expectation values will be examined for massless conformally coupled fields. The effects in the near horizon of black holes will be studied.
