Semiotics of the City and Media Education: benchmarking Italian models and developing a new Master's degree program

The proposed research is being conducted as part of an internship (2+2 months). It aims to conduct a comprehensive study of the urban environment, educational practices, and modern academic models through the prism of media semiotics. The project focuses on the development of theoretical knowledge and its implementation in Armenia’s educational system through a (future) master’s degree program with a double diploma. The research is relevant due to the increasing role of cities as spaces of informal learning, as well as the need to rethink educational strategies in the context of the digitalization and mediatization of culture. In this context, the concept of a “learning city” developed by UNESCO is particularly important, as it views the urban environment as a dynamic system for producing, transmitting, and interpreting knowledge. The first goal of the project is to analyze the city of Turin in the context of the concept of learning cities. Turin is not officially included in the list of “learning cities”․
