A two-day technical assistance mission titled "Digital Transition in University Governance and Management" was held in Yerevan on September 24-25, focusing on issues related to the digital transformation of higher education governance and management.
The first day was held at the Higher Education and Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, while the second day's meetings continued at Yerevan State University. Representatives of the higher education sector and international experts participated in the two-day program.
During the meeting at YSU, Artur Avagyan, Executive Director of the Information Technologies Educational and Research Center (ITERC), delivered a presentation titled "Digital Transformation of Armenian Universities: The Case of Yerevan State University."
The presentation outlined the current state of YSU's digital transformation, its digital systems and services, ongoing initiatives, achievements, key challenges and priorities for further development.
International experts participating in the program presented European experience in the digital transformation of higher education, addressing integrated university information systems, system interoperability, data governance, shared digital services, data-driven decision-making and new AI-assisted management services.
During separate parts of the discussions, participants examined gaps in the digital systems, data flows and administrative processes of Armenian higher education institutions, including issues related to system interoperability, data duplication, the parallel use of digital and paper-based processes, security and access management.
Discussions held as part of the technical assistance mission aimed to develop a roadmap for the digital transformation of higher education in Armenia, based on short-, medium- and long-term actions.
