Computer Services Department
The Department of computer services of the YSU Library has been engaged in the creation of a digital library since the day of its establishment (1996).
The main functions of the department are:
- Systemizing the "KOHA" library program,
- Entering materials in the library,
- Creation of authoritative records, electronic directories,
- Issuance of joint tickets,
- Organization and coordination of electronic service - borrowing and returning,
- Subscription to e-magazines,
- Photocopying, processing, and posting books online,
- Provision of electronic orders for materials.
Department of Antiquarian, Rare and Art Literature
The Department of Antiquarian, rare, and art literature was founded in 1973. Today, the book fund of the department is more than 21 thousand items. The literature is arranged according to two principles: chronological and thematic.
Today, the activity of the department depends on the following functions:
- Preservation of literature,
- Intra-library service,
- Entering literature and electronic mapping,
- Ancient literature dusting and sanitizing,
- Organizing a permanent exhibition of ancient literature,
- Bibliographic information and publishing.
Supply and processing department
The guarantee of uninterrupted activity of the university library is the continuous replenishment of literature. The main sources of replenishment are book exchange, trade transactions, donations, etc.
The main functions of the Supply and Processing Department are:
- Receiving and distributing literature published in YSU publishing house,
- Audit of endowment and book exchange funds,
- Organization of donations to individuals, YSU faculties, various circles,
- Evaluation and classification of newly received books,
- Cooperation with students in replacing lost books with new ones.
Reading rooms
The computer room (303) and 5 reading rooms provide in-library service to YSU library readers, two of which were renovated with the financial support of the "Izmirlian" Foundation.
Library reading rooms are:
- Philological Sciences (501),
- Social Sciences (403),
- Exact Sciences (503)
- Natural Sciences (601),
- Press and journal service (603).
Inventory and textbook stock
Most of the library's resources are stored in the Inventory, from where the readers' orders are served outside the library. In this department, the works of delivering the orders to the readers, arranging the returned literature on the bookshelves, as well as receiving and servicing the newly received textbooks are carried out.
Filtering works of outdated literature are regularly performed.
Existing literature is serviced from the manual fund without prior order.
Subscription department and ready-at-hand art fund
In this department, out-of-library service of literature is performed from the ready-at-hand art funds and the literature stored in the library. Among the functions of the department is also the replenishment of required literature, creation of new circulating funds, restoration of worn-out book stamps, maintenance of sheets, etc.
