Hungarian Embassy representatives meet with YSU students
A new chapter in diplomatic relations, lessons from the 1956 revolution and an introduction to Hungarian culture were in focus at the YSU Faculty of International Relations, which hosted a delegation from the Embassy of Hungary in Armenia. Embassy representatives introduced students not only to bilateral educational opportunities but also to details of key historical events.
Alexandra Csizmadia, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Hungary in Armenia, emphasized the importance of developing bilateral ties, saying: "The opening of the Embassy of Hungary in Armenia was a historic step in the partnership between the two countries. We attach great importance to academic and cultural cooperation and warmly invite YSU students to visit Hungary and discover our country."
During the meeting, Peter Tarcsay, Consul at the Embassy of Hungary, delivered a lecture titled "1,000 Years in 30 Minutes: A Short Introduction to Hungary," covering the country's geography, history, scientific achievements and inventions, culture and national traditions. He noted that Hungary has a rich historical heritage and significant scientific potential. One of the goals of the embassy is to give Armenian youth a closer introduction to Hungarian culture and educational opportunities.
Natalia Varadi, Professor at Ferenc Rakoczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian University, also delivered a lecture during the meeting, focusing on the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and the struggle for freedom.
"The 1956 Hungarian Revolution played an important role in the history of our people and in the process of self-determination. It is important for students, as future specialists in international relations, to study these historical events and their impact on regional developments in detail," she emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, students asked the speakers questions on topics of interest to them. They were particularly interested in opportunities to study in Hungary, the application process for scholarship programs and exchange programs offered by the Hungarian embassy.
Earlier, in September, representatives of the Embassy of Hungary in Armenia met at Yerevan State University to discuss opportunities to expand Armenian-Hungarian academic cooperation, develop new educational initiatives and organize joint events.
