YSU teams excel in ICPC quarterfinals, advance to semifinals
The results of the ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) quarterfinals, held at Yerevan State University, have been announced. Four teams from YSU achieved outstanding results, securing their places in the semifinals of the contest.
The ICPC, one of the most prestigious competitions dedicated to the development of information technology and algorithmic thinking, continues to attract the attention of the world's top student teams. This year, the international quarterfinals were held across multiple countries, and YSU teams once again stood out with exceptional problem-solving skills, achieving outstanding results and advancing to the semifinals.
In the Armenian quarterfinals, YSU's team 6741426—comprising Samvel Andreasyan, Hamlet Petrosyan, and Hakob Ayvazyan—recorded the highest score among teams from South Caucasus universities, solving 8 out of 12 problems. YSU's The Lion, Binary Trio, and Ctrl+Alt+Derive teams solved 6 and 5 problems, respectively. With these results, YSU will be represented by four teams in the semifinals, scheduled to take place in Tbilisi this December. The teams will compete for a place in the ICPC finals and the opportunity to represent the university on the international stage.
Armen Andreasyan, Assistant at the Chair of Programming and Information Technologies of the YSU Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics and coach of YSU programming teams, noted that YSU had 11 teams participating in the quarterfinals.
"Our teams outperformed competitors from neighboring countries, with no teams in Georgia or Azerbaijan solving as many problems," Andreasyan said. "We expect our teams to advance successfully to the next stage and represent YSU on the international stage."
The Armenian ICPC quarterfinals included both competitive and non-competitive teams from various universities and schools across the country.
