NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security Irene Fellin visits YSU
YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan hosted the delegation led by Irene Fellin, NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security.
Welcoming the high-ranking guest, the rector emphasized the importance and relevance of the issues being discussed within the framework of the visit.
Irene Fellin, NATO Secretary General's Special Representative, delivered a lecture highlighting the importance of women's participation and the amplification of their voices in policymaking, negotiations, and security affairs.
"In recent years, alongside changes in the security environment, the topics under discussion have also shifted. We are paying increasing attention to matters of defense and security. In this context, the Women, Peace and Security agenda also includes issues related to human security," noted Irene Fellin.
The speaker presented her work within NATO in fields related to people, peace, and security, highlighting how the organization continues to focus on its priorities—ensuring deterrence and defense—which remain key agenda priorities for the entire world.
YSU students were also present at the lecture held in the Academic Council Session Hall, where they had the opportunity to ask questions to Irene Fellin, NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for Women, Peace, and Security.
