Representatives of DVV International hosted at YSU Continuing Education Center
As part of a study visit, the YSU Continuing Education Center hosted representatives from the Tunisia and Algeria offices of the German organization DVV International (the Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association), as well as from its partner institutions. The main purpose of the visit was to become acquainted with the work carried out by the Continuing Education Center, its achievements in the field of adult education, and the experience of cooperation with the DVV International office in Armenia.
The YSU Continuing Education Center and DVV International have been cooperating since 2022. Over these years, several joint initiatives have been implemented, including lecturer training programs and research related to adult education. In February of this year, the two sides signed a memorandum of cooperation, establishing a foundation for expanded, systematic, and institutional cooperation.
Presenting the university's capacities, YSU Vice-Rector for Development and Innovation Mikayel Hovhannisyan said, "YSU is one of the main pillars of our society's professional growth, being one of the oldest and largest educational institutions. Today, each of our graduates contributes to shaping the country's professional landscape. This places a great public responsibility on us—ensuring high-quality education, innovative approaches, and opportunities for lifelong learning. We value not only classical academic programs but also additional training initiatives, which are essential for being competitive in the modern world. Cooperation with international partners enables us to broaden our experience and enhance the quality of our educational services."
Lusine Kharatyan, Director of the YSU Continuing Education Center, presented the initiatives implemented to date and the prospects for future cooperation.
Addressing the purpose of this visit, she noted, "Our partners visiting YSU today—representatives from DVV International's Tunisia and Morocco offices—were interested not only in learning about the activities of the Continuing Education Center, but also in understanding the university's role in adult education at the national level."
Noting that the visit had evolved into an effective platform for sharing experiences, Lusine Kharatyan added, "We presented our successful practices, discussed the challenges we face, and our best examples of cooperation. This was an opportunity for mutual learning, during which YSU presented its successful experience while also becoming acquainted with the practices of its partners."
