Anahit Balabekyan recognized as an EPJ distinguished referee for 2025
The European Physical Journal has designated Anahit Balabekyan, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor at the Chair of Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics at the Institute of Physics, and Head of the International Center for Advanced Studies at the YSU Research Institute of Physics, as a distinguished referee for 2025.
The European Physical Journal is a highly reputable international scientific journal covering nearly all branches of physics. It is indexed in leading international databases such as Scopus and Web of Science.
The distinguished referees are selected based on the exceptional quality, responsibility, and high professional standards demonstrated in the peer review and evaluation of scientific articles. Such referees provide in-depth and constructive assessments, uphold high standards of academic ethics, and, through their expert contributions, enhance the quality of the journal.
The EPJ Steering Committee awards this honorary title to referees who stand out for their advanced professional competence, scientific responsibility, and substantial contribution to maintaining and advancing the scientific quality of the articles published in the journal. The work of referees is regarded as a crucial factor in ensuring the credibility of international scientific publications and maintaining high academic standards.
As a distinguished referee, Anahit Balabekyan has received a personalized certificate and a lapel pin. In addition, her name will be included in the unified alphabetical list of EPJ Distinguished Referees for 2025, which will be published on the journal's official website.
Professor Balabekyan noted that this distinction attests to the high level and significant impact of the scientific and expert work she has carried out over the years. She added that, although she has acted as a referee for numerous articles submitted to international scientific journals in her field, this is the first time she has received such a distinction.
"I am very glad that the scientific and expert work I have carried out over the years is being recognized by international scientific journals. Such recognition is more important to me than any remuneration. Moreover, it is a great honor to uphold the name of Yerevan State University on the international stage through such achievements, as YSU's international standing is shaped precisely by the work of its scholars," emphasized Anahit Balabekyan.
Over the years, the scientific focus of Anahit Balabekyan, Head of the International Center for Advanced Studies at the YSU Research Institute of Physics, has been on nuclear reactions and their interactions under various energy conditions. Professor Balabekyan is the author of more than 100 scientific articles, the findings of which have made a significant contribution to the development of nuclear physics. Her works have been published in internationally recognized and prominent journals, attesting to her professionalism, consistent scholarly activity, and research valued by the international scientific community.
Earlier this year, YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan awarded Professor Anahit Balabekyan the YSU Gold Medal.
