Knowledge, languages and international ties: YSU student Tatyana Davtyan's educational experience in Italy
Tatyana Davtyan, a master's student at the YSU Faculty of European Languages and Communication, studied for one semester at the University of L'Aquila in Italy under the Erasmus+ program. The experience opened up new opportunities for both professional and personal development.
"Participating in the program was not only a professional achievement for me, but also a unique cultural journey," Tatyana says.
Reflecting on her accomplishments during the program, she notes that her time abroad allowed her to learn a new language, take part in international seminars, and meet professors from Boston University, who welcomed her warmly and provided support on various academic matters.
"I spent a lot of time in the library during the day, conducting research. Everyone was very kind to me and always willing to help when I had questions," she says.
Tatyana applied to the program not only to advance her professional skills, but also to learn a new language. She notes that one of the main challenges she faced in the context of intercultural communication was the lack of a common language, as not everyone spoke English.
"This situation made me quickly acquire a new language and communicate freely with locals," Tatyana says.
Emphasizing the importance of building new friendships, she notes that she continues to stay in touch with her Italian friends, often reminiscing about their journey.
"It was incredible to discover the traditions of different nations. At first, they seemed strange, but they were also very interesting," she adds.
For the YSU student, the pillars of success are determination and purposefulness.
"If you have the desire, everything is achievable," she says.
This international educational experience has provided Tatyana not only with new knowledge and skills, but also with the confidence and competence to face future professional and international challenges.
