YSU STUDENTS HELD MARCH APPEALING TO RA MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE
Today the members of “Forum of free students” of YSU and a number of students who were protesting against the cancellation of the third liquidation period, marched in a procession towards the RA ES Ministry to express their discontent to the ES Minister.
Because of cancellation of the third period about 500 students were expelled from universities. 170 of those students are from YSU. The protesters claim that the problem occurred because of improper awareness of students about the cancellation of the third liquidation period and they appeal to the Minister to allow political influence on the process of settlement of students’ problems.
In the premise of the RA Ministry of ES, Minister Arayik Harutyunyan received the protesters and explained that higher educational establishments are self-governed bodies and take such decisions alone.
The Minister suggested forming a group representing the interests of protesters and discuss the problem with the head of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry Robert Sukiasyan and with the lawyer in their office.
After the discussion the decision remained the same, but the representatives of the Ministry promised to consider the problem again.
