Associate Professor at the Chair of Service at the YSU Faculty of Geography and Geology, Candidate of Geographical Sciences Tigran Sargsyan delivered a series of lectures in Budapest (Hungary) and Wilhelmshaven (Germany) from April 20 to May 4.
At Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, the lectures were held within the framework of the Erasmus+ program and focused on the opportunities and challenges of sustainable development in mountainous countries, using Armenia as a case study. The audience included students from Hungary and other European countries, as well as members of the academic staff. The lectures were followed by active question-and-answer sessions and discussions.
It is noteworthy that cooperation between Yerevan State University and Eötvös Loránd University under the Erasmus+ program has a history of about two years. During this period, faculty members and PhD students specializing in geography have carried out reciprocal visits, strengthening inter-university and interdisciplinary ties and expanding opportunities for further cooperation.
Cooperation between YSU and Jade University of Applied Sciences in Wilhelmshaven dates back to 2012, within the framework of the EU TEMPUS-SuToMa (Sustainable Tourism Management) project.
This year, within the framework of the International Week 2026 organized at the German university, Associate Professor Tigran Sargsyan, as a guest lecturer, presented the impact of various environmental factors on the sustainable development of tourism in Armenia. Students from different European countries showed strong interest in Armenia's geographical features, tourist attractions, and various aspects of its cultural heritage.
