1. Admission criteria/requirements
"Regulations for admission to RA state and non-state higher educational institutions (according to the Bachelor's educational program)" approved by the RA government's decision No. 597 of April 26, 2012. Admission to the full-time mode of study is carried out following the "Rules of admission to RA state higher educational institutions" (reconfirmed every year by the order of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports the Republic of Armenia, the decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia N 476-Ն of April 7, 2022).

2. Programme Objectives
· To form creative, service management specialists with professional knowledge and critical thinking, who apply professional knowledge and can plan, organize, motivate, guide, and control service activities based on the principles of sustainable development ideology.
3. Educational outcomes of the programme

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:

    1. • To present comprehensive and fundamental knowledge about the service sector,
    2. • To demonstrate knowledge of at least 2 foreign languages,
    3. • To present knowledge about the field of management,
    4. • To demonstrate knowledge to identify, satisfy, and organize customer requirements;
    5. • To point out the current issues and challenges of the sector at the national, regional, and global levels,
    6. • To present the prerequisites and resources for the formation and development of the service in RA,
    7. • To explain the possibilities of achieving sustainable development through the organization of quality services.
    1. • To skillfully apply knowledge at individualized levels of professional activity, formulate, plan, and implement the processes of different stages of professional activity using fundamental, modern, and innovative methods, and taking into account the requirements of current legal acts, as well as normative and technical documents,
    2. • To assume responsibility at different stages of service activities based on knowledge of professional ethics and norms,
    3. • To implement innovative initiatives,
    4. • To implement innovative initiatives,
    5. • To implement the practical application and control of business etiquette and communication norms in the service,
    6. • To apply computer programs related to service activities,
    7. • To collect, process, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data about the service sector
    8. • To observe the rules of ethics of the service while performing its professional functions,
    1. • To apply the skills of working in a team and organizing teamwork,
    2. • To practice the skills of analyzing information,
    3. • To apply the skill of quality control of services,
    4. • To skillfully localize global experience,
    5. • To formulate his educational requirements and make an independent decision about further studies.
4. Assessment methods
According to the new "Educational Process Organization" regulation, the forms of assessment are:
1. with a final assessment
2. without a final assessment
3. without assessment of mid-term exams
4. check-ups
The assessment is carried out on a scale of twenty points; the minimum threshold is 10.
5. Graduates future career opportunities
Graduates can continue their education or work in service enterprises, in the public and private service management system. They mainly work in communications and tourism, trade, financial and credit, health, scientific and educational, public catering, and hotel enterprises as service managers, department heads, and consultants.

6. Resources and forms to support learning
Laws on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial activities of the Republic of Armenia and laws on tourism and the licensing procedure, instructions, and list of the services of the Republic of Armenia. RA tourism state programs, decisions, and concepts. Bulletins of the RA National Statistical Service. Annual reports of the RA government.
The materials and resources needed for the studies can be obtained from the YSU library, the National Library of Armenia, the Chair of Service, the websites of the RA Government, the RA Ministry of Economic Development and Investments, and the TEMPUS-SuToMa (Sustainable Tourism Management) program. Electronic resources: Statistical Committee of Armenia, UN Tourism, etc.
7. Educational standards or programme benchmarks used for programme development
RA state academic standards of higher and post-graduate professional education, and educational programs. YSU 2016-2020 strategic development plan. RA Law on Higher and Postgraduate Education. Qualifications Framework for the European Higher Education Area. State academic standards of higher professional education for "Service", and "Tourism".
8. Requirements for the academic staff
General teaching/pedagogical abilities:
· ability to prepare subject programs and calendar plans,
· ability to choose an appropriate teaching method and work with it,
· knowledge of interactive teaching methods, and ability to use active learning techniques. Research
· Ability to develop scientific sources, and use the necessary information systems,
· Ability to solve scientific problems posed in the professional field and conduct research,
· Ability to draw up and implement research projects.
Communication skills
· oral, written, and remote communication skills with the audience,
· ability to present, analyze, and discuss research results, knowledge of Armenian and foreign languages.
ICT application
· basic computer (MS Office package: Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills,
· ability to prepare and present digital presentation materials,
· knowledge and ability to use online teaching programs and digital technologies.
Other abilities
· Ability to estimate the necessary resources and effectively implement projects, time resource planning, and management.
Professional abilities:
· to clarify the basic principles and concepts of service organization, to know the global and local issues of service activity,
· to clarify the main concepts, categories, and theories of service and tourism,
· to identify customer requirements and their needs, conscious demands, and paying demands,
· to explain the principles of the organization and operation of service systems and tourism complexes,
. to describe modern approaches to service and provision in them, to explain the aspects of the economic, psychological, sociological, and spatial organization of service enterprises, to master the principles of the service organization, to identify the structural features of tourism in the service sector from the perspective of sustainable development,
· to develop socio-cultural services and tourism organization programs,
· to collect, analyze, and coordinate research indicators on the service and tourism sectors.
General requirements
Scientific degree
· scientific degree or rank in geography or a related professional field, or a Master's degree,
. availability of 3 scientific or methodological publications in the last five years,
. at least a participation in a scientific conference or seminar in the last 5 years.
Pedagogical experience
·at least 3 years of experience in professional courses or teaching, participation in professional development courses in the last 5 years.
Practical experience
1. Practical experience in the field.
Other requirements
. availability of online materials for at least 50% of taught subjects, student survey-grade point average: at least 4.0 (for active faculty).

9. Additional information about the programme
When compiling the "Service" educational program, various regulations adopted in RA, as well as other educational programs, trainings, and results of discussions organized by the Chair of YSU Service were taken into account. The regulations of the World Tourism Organization and the International Association of Guides, educational programs, trainings, as well as regional training courses of the above-mentioned organizations guides organized in the Chair were considered.
