1. Admission criteria/requirements
Admission within the specialty is conducted through an oral exam (following the admission regulations of YSU (reconfirmed every year)).
2. Programme Objectives
· to prepare specialists with fundamental knowledge, high theoretical training, and the ability to perform scientific and research work, as well as oriented specialists in administrative, political, and diplomatic activities.
· to ensure the presentation of the contribution of Georgians to regional developments of Georgian culture, language, and religion in scientific, educational, and other environments through Georgian specialists.

3. Educational outcomes of the programme
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- cover and clarify the problems of different scientific branches of Georgian studies in general terms, the features of regional research, the state of studying the ethnic history and historical-cultural heritage of Georgia.
- list, classify, and characterize the facts and realities of the Georgian cultural presence in the region, the contribution of the Georgian ethnic element and Georgian culture to the regional developments.
- outline the general historical processes of Georgia, the phenomena of interaction and complementarity of separate ethnic groups and cultures, manifestations of material and spiritual culture, political relations and processes, systems of awareness and expression of ethnic and cultural identity.
- describe, classify, and characterize the historical processes and phenomena that unfolded in Georgia, including the various forms and modes of manifestation of historical phenomena, the features of political processes, and the main episodes of the activities of social classes and individuals who have a special role in historical events.
- read, process, and interpret historical sources and texts written in Georgian.
- prepare and present research works, reports, and Master's theses on Georgian topics, observing the rules of professional ethics and using modern educational technologies.
- value and evaluate the challenges of modern Georgian studies, to apply new methods and approaches, to analyze and generalize the facts and realities, to make theoretical conclusions.

- carry out independent professional activities both in state structures and in the fields of education and science.

- produce a clear, well-structured Georgian historiographical text, presenting one's opinions and justifying goals.
4. Assessment methods
Based on the workload of the courses provided by the curriculum of the educational program, the mode of study, teaching methods, and taking into account the degree of importance of the course in the formation of professional knowledge and abilities of the student, the courses are divided into 4 groups according to the evaluation form:
a) with the final assessment,
b) without final assessment,
c) without evaluation of mid-term exams,
d) check-ups
Accordingly, the evaluation components of the given course and the points allocated to them are chosen by the teaching professor and approved by the Chair. The forms of evaluations and examinations are indicated in the specification of the given educational program.
At the end of the program, students submit theses for defense.

5. Graduates future career opportunities
Graduates of the program can work as analysts and experts, carry out activities at the Caucasus Institute, YSU Institute of Armenian Studies, YSU Institute of Humanities and Social Science Research, RA NAS Institutes of History and Oriental Studies, Mesrop Mashtots Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, National Archives of Armenia, other universities and research centers of Armenia, as well as in higher and secondary professional educational institutions. They can also work in various levels of state administration (the RA National Assembly, the RA Ministry of Science, Education, Culture and Sports, the Ministries of Defense, the office of the Commissioner of Diaspora, the analytical and translation departments of the NSS). Moreover, cooperation with Georgia and Russia, as well as with international research and analytical structures is planned.
6. Resources and forms to support learning
To facilitate the achievement of the results defined by the educational program, students will be provided with printed and electronic materials and audio-visual materials, in addition, films will be shown in the auditoriums equipped with the appropriate appliances.
7. Educational standards or programme benchmarks used for programme development
The "Georgian Studies" program is unique and exclusive operating in the Republic of Armenia.
While developing the master's program, the disturbing situation created at present was taken as the main orientation, in which the ideas and views imposed by foreign states and cultures (Russian, in recent years also Western) significantly hinder the development of normal relations of RA with the Caucasian countries. When developing the program, the characteristics presented for the 7th level of the RA National Framework of Qualifications, the "Manual for the Development of YSU Educational Programs", the "Guide for filling out the Educational Program Specification and Course Descriptors" prepared by the YSU Quality Assurance Center, and other materials were used.

Professional abilities
· Knowledge of the problems of Georgian history, regional processes, the political, economic, and ethno-cultural history of Georgia, the modern ways of studying the material and spiritual cultural heritage, and the ability to identify the contribution of Georgian culture in the region.
· Ability to collect, process, and interpret relevant primary sources related to the field (materials related to Caucasian studies, oral history, maps, internet resources, electronic libraries, scientific articles, reports, etc.), as well as quantitative and qualitative data, to carry out the necessary analysis of historical processes, interpret and to justify them.
· Knowledge of any of the languages (Georgian, Azerbaijani, Eastern (Persian, Turkish, Arabic))
