YSU Faculty of Journalism lecturers Davit Alaverdyan and Varduhi Petrosyan participated in the MERIT Forum held in Copenhagen, Denmark, on November 9–15, at the invitation of International Media Support (IMS).
During meetings with representatives of the Danish Parliament, the Danish media regulatory authority, the IMS leadership, public broadcasters DR and TV2, the Union of Journalists, and other organizations, they presented, as experts, the self-regulation processes in Armenia and recent legislative changes in the media sector.
Davit Alaverdyan and Varduhi Petrosyan also took part in the Copenhagen Conference on Information Integrity, which was opened with remarks by the minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
Discussions focused on the ethical and legislative mechanisms for regulating artificial intelligence and the digital environment, EU regulations, the challenges of combating disinformation, and potential solutions for safeguarding the digital sphere.
According to the faculty lecturers, AI not only creates new challenges and opportunities for the media, major technology companies, education, and other fields, but also raises important regulatory questions. They emphasize that such international conferences contribute not only to the exchange of experience and the development of relations with authoritative professional institutions, but also to the formation of new collaborative initiatives.
