Lia Grigoryan, a student at the YSU Faculty of Russian Philology, participated in the international educational program Summer University 2026 in July. The program was held at Ural Federal University named after the First President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin, in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
Over two weeks, the YSU student took part in the course "Sustainability and Development: Diplomacy of the New World," which featured lectures, academic sessions, and discussions on pressing issues facing the contemporary world, international cooperation, and diplomacy.
An important component of the program was exploring Yekaterinburg and learning about Russian history and culture. As a future philologist studying Russian language and literature, Lia was particularly impressed by visits to the Church on the Blood and the Ganina Yama monastery complex.
"The visit to the memorial church and the Ganina Yama complex allowed me to look at the history of the Romanov dynasty and the tragic events surrounding Russia's last imperial family from a new perspective," Lia said.
Bringing together participants from different countries, the Summer University program provided an opportunity to learn about one another's cultures and traditions, creating a unique platform through its educational program for exchanging experiences and presenting their respective countries.
"It was precisely the diversity of the participants that made the program even more interesting. We had the opportunity to discuss current issues and look at familiar topics from different perspectives," the student noted.
Participation in international educational programs opens up new opportunities for students in terms of professional development, broadening their outlook, and gaining valuable experience in international communication.
