A roundtable discussion commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War was organized by YSU Chair of Russian Literature at the Russian Center. Lecturers and students from the Faculty of Russian Philology participated in the event.
The event began with an opening speech by PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Ashkhen Atanesyan, Head of the Chair of Russian Literature, who emphasized the significance of such joint discussions for both lecturers and students.
Konstantin Shakaryan, a PhD student at the Chair of Russian Literature, presented a contemporary series of publications focused on wartime poetry, including newly released editions. Among these was a collection of works by Ilya Selvinsky, which was published with Shakaryan’s involvement.
During the roundtable discussion, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Levon Hakobyan from the same chair, addressed the distinct features of wartime poetry. Lecturer Edgar Arshakyan, also a PhD in Philology, discussed the depiction of harrowing war scenes in Andrei Voznesensky’s poem Goya.
Students from the Faculty of Russian Philology then presented reports exploring the creative backgrounds and artistic characteristics of well-known wartime songs. An Italian student from the Faculty also contributed to the discussion, delivering a presentation on the history of Italian partisan songs.
The event concluded with a speech by Diana Gazarova, Dean of the Faculty of Russian Philology, who expressed gratitude to the organizers, lecturers, and students for their contributions. Arusyak Nersisyan, Director of YSU Russian Center, also highlighted the significance of such events and reaffirmed the ongoing collaboration between the Russian Center and the Faculty of Russian Philology.
