With the support of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Yerevan (the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Armenia), Marine Tarverdyan, a staff member of the Office of YSU Faculty of Russian Philology, took part in the "Summer Institute" International Educational Program held from July 28 to August 10 of this year.
The "Summer Institute" program, hosted at Pskov State University, brought together young philologists from 16 universities across Armenia, Abkhazia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The program aimed to establish and enhance educational, research, and program-based cooperation between Russian researchers and their international counterparts in the field of the humanities—primarily in philology. The 14-day program included educational components, professional development for instructors, and internships at partner universities.
Within the framework of this intensive course, young professionals participated in lectures, master classes, educational excursions, interactive seminars, and roundtable discussions. Three academic and educational field practices were organized in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Pskov, providing participants with the opportunity to become acquainted with modern educational practices in Russia and to explore the country’s cultural heritage.
The internship component took place at the Saint Petersburg State University of Economics, the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, and the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute. Participants also became familiar with the activities of the Laboratory for Tactile Communication Research and the Laboratory for Cognitive and Linguistic Studies.
Special attention was given to excursions to cultural landmarks, including Nevsky Avenue, the Triumphal Arch in Moscow, the Arts Square, the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, the Kazan Cathedral, the Mariinsky Palace, and Saint Isaac’s Cathedral. In Moscow, participants visited Red Square, Sparrow Hills, the Sophia Embankment, and Mosfilmovskaya Street—combining exposure to both historical heritage and contemporary sites of interest.
Marine Tarverdyan, staff member of YSU Faculty of Russian Philology, emphasized the high level of organization of the "Summer Institute" program, stating:
"Participating in this program was an opportunity to explore the international academic cooperation landscape, new methods of teaching the Russian language, and to make new friends from different countries. The program provided immense experience. The intensive lectures, master classes, excursions, and internships all offered a comprehensive perspective on the modern scientific and educational sectors of the country."
