As part of the Yerevan Book Fest, the Faculty of Russian Philology at Yerevan State University hosted a special event featuring the Russian Literary Newspaper’s Editor-in-Chief, Maxim Zamshev.
The now-traditional Yerevan Book Fest took place from September 5 to 7 this year, bringing together renowned writers from Russia, Georgia, Slovenia, and Italy. Among the distinguished guests was celebrated poet, author of numerous poetry collections, and Editor-in-Chief of the weekly Literary Newspaper, Maxim Zamshev.
The event at YSU, organized at the initiative of the Faculty of Russian Philology, was moderated by poet, translator, and PhD student of the faculty, Konstantin Shakaryan.
During the meeting, held for students and faculty members, Maxim Zamshev spoke about the beginnings of his poetic journey and how his background in music contributed to his development as a poet. He then read selected poems from his collection titled Незаживающее. Konstantin Shakaryan also presented a reading of his own poetry.
Participants had the opportunity to ask questions regarding the historical and cultural significance of the newspaper—once a leading platform of Russian intellectual thought—as well as the current sociopolitical climate in Russia and the legacy of Silver Age poets.
Reflecting on the significance of the event, students of the faculty noted that the meeting left a lasting impression and helped deepen their interest in contemporary Russian poetry.
