Within the framework of the Erasmus+ mobility program, Diana Gazarova, Dean of YSU Faculty of Russian Philology, PhD in Philology and Associate Professor, visited Olomouc and Brno, Czechia, from October 6 to 12. During her visit, she delivered lectures at Palacky University for bachelor's and master's students on the following topics: "The Language of Power and the Power of Language: Linguistic Politics", "Russian as a Foreign Language at YSU: Programs and Methodology", "Pronouns as a Means of Evaluation", and "Sergey Dovlatov: The Language of Russian Emigration".
During the lectures, students were also introduced to the educational programs offered by YSU Faculty of Russian Philology for foreign students, including short-term and long-term Russian language courses for non-native speakers.
The purpose of the visit extended beyond delivering lectures. Considering that this semester is the first time students from the Faculty of Russian Philology are participating in the Erasmus+ program and studying at Palacky University, the visit also aimed to familiarize with the content, credit distribution, and structure of Palacky University's "Slavonic Studies" educational program.
"Over the past year, we have been in discussions with our Czech partners to create opportunities for our students to participate in this program. Thanks to the prompt and professional work of YSU International Cooperation Office, two of our faculty students are already studying at Palacky University this semester," Diana Gazarova said.
A verbal agreement was reached regarding potential cooperation opportunities for students and lecturers of both YSU and Palacky University. Discussions included the arrangement of visits by Palacky University professors during the second semester of the 2025-2026 academic year and the selection of lecture topics.
During the visit to Brno, potential avenues for collaboration were discussed with the leadership and lecturers of the Masaryk University Language Centre, including the organization of Russian courses for non-native speakers and further cooperation within the Erasmus+ program.
