On March 10, the YSU Faculty of Russian Philology hosted a seminar titled "Algorithm for Success: From Writing to Defending Your Thesis", focusing on the key stages of preparing diploma research projects.
The seminar was led by Associate Professor M. A. Mkrtchyan of the Chair of Russian Literature, who guided approximately 18 students on preparing their qualification theses. The session covered the main requirements for the final thesis, proper structure, formatting rules, and principles for selecting a topic and formulating research objectives and tasks.
Special attention was given to organizing the research component. Participants received guidance on the sequence of preparatory research stages, effective methods for locating scientific sources, and proper compilation of the bibliography. The seminar also highlighted the principles of maintaining academic integrity.
The seminar also focused on preparing for thesis defense. Students were introduced to the rules of public speaking, the creation of presentation slides to support their defense, and proper procedures for presenting before the state examination committee and responding to questions.
Organized in an interactive format, the seminar allowed students to voice their challenges in writing their theses and receive answers to pressing questions.
The seminar served as a practical platform, enabling students to systematize and deepen their understanding of the essential stages of conducting academic research.
