An international congress titled "A Family for Every Child," dedicated to the challenges of deinstitutionalization, was held in Tunis. Among the speakers was Liana Mkrtchyan, Advocacy Specialist at SOS Children’s Villages Armenia and Assistant at the Chair of Social Work and Social Technologies, Yerevan State University.
The international platform brought together over 100 professionals from 14 countries, including policymakers, researchers, academics, and representatives of civil society. SOS Children’s Villages Armenia also participated in the congress, presenting the most recent and significant achievements in the field of deinstitutionalization in Armenia.
The congress was organized through the collaboration of SOS Children’s Villages Association of Tunisia and the Psychology Department of the Higher Institute of Human Sciences of Tunis, under the patronage of the Tunisian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and with the support of the Ministries of Women and Family, Childhood and Seniors, and Social Affairs.
This interdisciplinary dialogue fostered comparative analysis of the experiences, challenges, and successes of various countries in ensuring child well-being through family-based care models.
Within the framework of this significant event, a formal cooperation agreement was also established between Yerevan State University and the University of Tunis. The partnership aims to promote and strengthen academic ties, the exchange of experience, and joint research initiatives intended to advance child protection.
