Collaboration between the YSU Master’s Program in “Data Science in Business” and San José State University (USA) DA Program
Since 2018, with the support of the Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF) and the Innovation Solutions and Technology Center (ISTC), cooperation was launched between the YSU Faculty of Economics and Management’s Master’s program in “Data Science for Business” and San José State University’s (USA) Master’s program in “Data Analytics.”
The first outcome of this initiative was that in May 2019, a group of students and lecturers from the YSU “Data Science for Business” master’s program visited San José State University, where they became involved in the work of several international companies in Silicon Valley.
The next step was the full update and modernization of the academic program. Today, the curriculum of the YSU “Data Science in Business” master’s program fully corresponds to the curriculum of San José State University’s “Data Analytics” program.
As a result of negotiations, YSU now has the opportunity to offer a double degree of higher education to graduates of the “Data Science in Business” master’s program. Thanks to this collaboration, the three best second-year students of the program have been able, since September 2020, to continue their studies at San José State University. After studying in the United States for just one year, students are provided with the opportunity to obtain a double degree and later build successful careers in Armenia.
Thanks to this significant cooperation, YSU is recognized as one of the universities offering cutting-edge and highly in-demand specializations.
NVIDIA–YSU Collaboration
NVIDIA has a global initiative offering educational programs around the world. Within this initiative, university professors from various countries undergo a selection process and join NVIDIA-developed educational programs, which primarily cover the fields of data science, artificial intelligence, and robotics.
Today, the “Data Science for Business” Master’s program of the Faculty of Economics and Management at Yerevan State University has joined NVIDIA’s initiative. With the support of EIF, a number of young lecturers from YSU have registered as NVIDIA educators, while lecturers Gagik Chakhoyan and Gevorg Ghalachyan have already gone through the process of obtaining NVIDIA’s “Ambassador” status and have been officially recognized as NVIDIA Ambassadors. They are the only NVIDIA Ambassadors not only in Armenia but also in the entire region.
This status implies that these lecturers will be invited to universities around the world to teach and present NVIDIA’s educational technologies.
The process of obtaining such a status is highly demanding, and it is typically awarded only to faculty members of leading universities worldwide.
Data science is one of the most rapidly developing fields globally, and both research and educational programs require high flexibility to respond quickly and effectively to these changes.
It can already be stated that, since September 2020, NVIDIA technologies have been integrated into the “Data Science for Business” Master’s program at the Faculty of Economics and Management of YSU, which has enabled the improvement of the quality of higher education teaching to a new level.
The collaboration with NVIDIA enables the YSU “Data Science for Business” Master’s program not only to “import knowledge” from abroad but also to “export” high-quality knowledge internationally.
YSU Cooperation with the Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF), the Innovation Solutions and Technology Center (ISTC), and PMI Science
