Olympia Geghamyan, Associate Professor and PhD in Law, Head of the A. Iskoyan Center for Environmental Law at YSU Faculty of Law, has successfully completed the one-year (2024–2025 academic year) international program titled "Rights-Based Climate Adaptation in Armenia and Georgia". The program was implemented by Lund University (Sweden) and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute (RWI), with the support of the Swedish Institute.

The initiative aimed to enhance participants' capacities in the fields of public administration, climate policy, and law, with a focus on integrating human rights-based approaches. The program, which was thoroughly substantiated and designed to ensure high efficiency, provided Armenian and Georgian participants with the opportunity to engage in monthly in-person and online discussions with faculty experts from Lund University and to carry out collaborative project work.
During the program, the Armenian participant group developed and presented a draft report titled "Rights-Based Climate Adaptation in Armenia: The Right to Water". The report was discussed with a broad professional audience, including representatives from state institutions, international organizations, academia, and the private sector.
The right to water was examined as a cornerstone for assessing Armenia's climate adaptation policies, identifying existing gaps, and exploring potential areas for improvement.
Olympia Geghamyan noted: "It is especially important for academic staff to continuously update their knowledge and skills in line with the evolving demands of the time. Participation in this educational program, the knowledge shared by professional lecturers, and the opportunity for professional development have been a valuable experience, both professionally and personally."
