As part of the "Private International Law" course (lecturer: Professor A. Haykyants), 4th-year students of the Faculty of Law at Yerevan State University met with Hayk Hovhannisyan, founder and director of the leading Armenian law firm HAP Law Firm, lawyer, and PhD in Law.
Hayk Hovhannisyan presented the students with an actual international arbitration case, detailing the positions of the parties, the circumstances that arose alongside the case, and the legal issues that proved decisive in resolving the dispute. He thoroughly explained how a lawyer's strategic work is developed, from preliminary analysis to constructing arguments and presenting counterarguments.
The meeting was rich in professional insights, providing students with a practical understanding of the nuances of legal practice not only in domestic but also in international legal services.
The second part of the meeting evolved into an insightful Q&A session. Students asked questions not only about the presented international arbitration case but also about legal practice in general, including approaches to finding correct solutions in complicated legal situations and methods for presenting complicated legal issues clearly.
The questions were answered comprehensively, combining practical experience with theoretical and doctrinal perspectives. This provided an excellent opportunity for students to receive valuable guidance from a leading expert in international legal services regarding their future professional careers.
Such meetings help students navigate the complex choices of professional directions in law and strengthen mutually beneficial connections between theory and practice.
