The 14th Refugee Law School took place in Aghveran, bringing together law clinic students and lecturers from Gavar State University, Progress University of Gyumri, Northern University, and Yerevan State University.
Held from December 12-14, the event underscored that the protection of refugees' rights remains a highly relevant issue today. Therefore, training well-educated legal professionals with deep expertise in the field is considered essential. The three-day school aimed to advance the professional skills of future lawyers and raise their awareness of the rights of refugees and asylum seekers.
During the program, students attended diverse lectures and participated in discussions featuring experienced professionals, including Knarik Vardanyan, Head of the YSU Legal Clinic and Associate Professor at the Chair of European and International Law; officials from the Migration and Citizenship Service; and specialists from the Mission Armenia.
To develop practical skills, a moot court was organized in which participants assumed the roles of representatives from the Migration and Citizenship Service and practicing lawyers. The simulation was based on a real case and conducted in an administrative procedure format, giving students the opportunity to apply the accumulated theoretical knowledge.
At the closing ceremony, participants received certificates of completion.
Organizers emphasized the importance of such initiatives, noting that they provide a platform to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills and to train highly qualified professionals in specialized legal fields.
