From March 2–5, Professor Armen Haykyants, Doctor of Legal Sciences and Head of the Chair of Civil Law at the YSU Faculty of Law, together with Associate Professor Shushanik Ghukasyan, Candidate of Legal Sciences and lecturer at the same chair, delivered a series of lectures titled "Professional Ethics for Healthcare Professionals". The academic meeting brought together specialists in the field with the aim of deepening knowledge on current issues of medical ethics and facilitating the exchange of professional experience.
The lectures provided an opportunity to highlight the interconnection between theory and practice, presenting both the theoretical foundations of the topic and possible approaches to addressing issues in practice.
In accordance with recent legislative changes in the healthcare sector, the process of continuous professional development has become a mandatory requirement for healthcare professionals. For this reason, specialists are obliged to regularly participate in professional educational programs and accumulate CPD credits.
It is noteworthy that the course by Yerevan State University has been officially accredited by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, once again emphasizing the academic and scientific value of the program and its compliance with professional standards established in the field.
Within the framework of the course, participants had the opportunity to examine in detail a number of contemporary and important issues related to medical ethics.
Discussions addressed the ethical standards governing healthcare professional–patient relations, the importance of adhering to medical ethics rules, as well as the specific functions of the commission responsible for reviewing violations of ethical norms and the liability mechanisms for such violations. Particular attention was also paid to issues related to obtaining informed consent for medical intervention.
The course was conducted in an atmosphere of active professional discussion. Participants also raised numerous practical questions based on their everyday professional experience.
Both healthcare professionals and research staff from the YSU Institute of Pharmacy took part in the discussions, which made it possible to consider the topics from different professional perspectives and to foster a productive professional dialogue.
Similar initiatives will continue, aimed at deepening the knowledge of healthcare professionals and strengthening the standards of medical ethics in professional practice.
At this stage, the lectures were held at the YSU Institute of Pharmacy.
