From May 14–16, staff and students of the YSU Legal Clinic visited Syunik Province as part of the Rights for All program, in cooperation with the YSU Center for Admissions and Affairs with Applicants. The visit aimed to deliver educational and informational sessions for students at secondary and high schools in Kapan.
During the visit, legal consultants from the Legal Clinic organized interactive and content-rich training sessions designed to raise legal awareness among teenagers, strengthen their understanding of rights and responsibilities, and develop legal thinking skills.
The sessions covered a range of relevant legal topics. In particular, participants discussed necessary defense and extreme necessity, with detailed explanations of the limits and legal nuances of lawful self-defense. The issue of illicit drug trafficking was also addressed, highlighting its serious legal consequences and broader social risks. Special attention was given to the exploitation of minors, including international and national mechanisms for protecting children's rights, as well as the specific features, legal restrictions, and social guarantees related to employment involving minors.
The sessions were not only theoretical but also practical. Through real-life scenarios, the legal consultants helped students understand how to respond to legal challenges, protect their rights, and act in accordance with the law in everyday situations.
Alongside the educational component, students were also introduced to admission procedures at the YSU Faculty of Law, as well as its educational programs and professional development opportunities.
The meetings took place in an active and welcoming atmosphere. Students participated with great interest, asked numerous questions, and received comprehensive answers, while also expressing willingness to maintain contact with the university and take part in future educational initiatives.
