A summer school was organized for the second consecutive year in Goris, Syunik Province, on June 19-21 in cooperation with the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ) and the YSU Faculty of Law. This year's program focused on "Intellectual Property and Artificial Intelligence: Criminal Law Issues."
Around 40 students from eight Armenian universities took part in the summer school: Yerevan State University, French University in Armenia, American University of Armenia, Shirak State University, Goris State University, Vanadzor State University, Eurasia International University and Northern University.
Opening and welcoming remarks were delivered by Anna Margaryan, Head of the Chair of Criminal Law at the YSU Faculty of Law, Doctor of Legal Sciences and Professor, and Nelly Tumasyan, Project Coordinator of the Yerevan office of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ).
Lectures were delivered by Professor Bernd Heinrich, Honorary Doctor at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, and Katalin Tözsér, judge of the Munich Regional Court.
During the summer school, participants discussed many relevant issues, including the legal foundations of intellectual property protection, the socio-economic significance of intellectual property, criminal law protection of intellectual property, artificial intelligence and copyright. The program also included group work, during which students examined real cases from German practice.
At the end of the summer school, all participating students received certificates of participation.
