APPEAR
Project name: PROJECT252. DEvision - Digitally Connecting Real and Virtual Environments
Project Description: The DEvision initiative aims to introduce online and hybrid educational modules on geospatialism in the undergraduate and graduate education programs of partner institutions.
The initiative applies the concept of "Digital Earth" and processes digital transformations that affect society, the economy, and the environment.
Project partners will discover the specifics of using modern digital and online technologies in the education sector.
At the intersection of real and virtual world issues, there is a need to strengthen research capacity to contribute to regional development, meeting the needs of sustainable development for the economy and social responsibility.
The purpose of the project is to introduce the concept of "Digital Planet" by developing and introducing the following subjects within the scope of the project:
- Digital Earth Basics,
- Geospatial Models and Representations,
- Geovisualization and communication,
- Remote Sensing & Image Analysis,
- Spatial analysis with integrated elements for application development.
These educational resources provide a curriculum relevant to one semester's curriculum and cover social, economic, and managerial concepts for various disciplines.
By fully applying the demonstration and digital transformation model to education and professional experiences, the DEvision initiative will have a significant impact both within participating educational institutions and beyond.

Project373
Project Name: Biodiversity Assessment and DNA Barcoding of Mycorrhizal and Xylotrophic Fungi in Forested Regions of Armenia| BioBarFungArm
The BioBarFungArm project promote collaboration between Austrian and Armenian institutions to advance fungal diversity research and DNA barcoding. It enhances research capacity, promotes higher education, and supports sustainable development through dissemination strategies such as academic publications, conferences, workshops, and public outreach. The project strengthens partnerships among universities, training young researchers in cutting-edge mycological and botanical methods while prioritizing open-access research.
Committed to gender inclusion, BioBarFungArm ensures equal opportunities, particularly for women and underrepresented groups. As part of the APPEAR program, it aligns with SDGs 4, 5, and 15, contributing to biodiversity conservation and sustainable resource use. The initiative supports STEM education, crucial for addressing global challenges like climate change and digitalization, and helps strengthen life sciences in Armenia.
A key focus is capacity building in mycology and forest ecosystem preservation, addressing Armenia’s urgent need for experts. It updates curricula at YSU, enhancing employability and modernizing laboratory facilities. By facilitating international collaboration, BioBarFungArm support research and education, empowering future generations with high-quality, globally recognized education.
