YSU, Goethe-Institut sign memorandum of understanding
YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan hosted a delegation from the Goethe-Institut, and the two sides discussed new opportunities and prospects for academic cooperation of mutual interest.
During the meeting, YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan; Jan-Tage Kühling, Director of the Goethe-Institut in Armenia; Eva Mayerer, staff member of the Culture Department of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Armenia; and Yves-Oliver Tauschwitz, German language expert in Armenia, discussed new opportunities for educational and cultural cooperation, the development of joint programs in higher education, and the organization of experience-sharing initiatives.
YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan noted that cooperation with German partners is not new. Within the framework of the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility, regular exchanges of students and academic staff take place between Yerevan State University and various German universities under the agreements signed for study and teaching purposes.
"Most of the foreign partners working within the grants provided by the RA MoESCS Higher Education and Science Committee are from Germany. In addition, we currently have six educational programs whose accreditation is being carried out by a German agency. We are glad to have the opportunity to institutionalize our partnership relations between YSU and the Goethe-Institut," Hovhannes Hovhannisyan emphasized.
Jan-Tage Kühling, Director of the Goethe-Institut in Armenia, speaking during the meeting, underlined, "We want to strengthen our partnerships with cultural and academic institutions, as well as with schools. There is great and continuously growing interest in Armenia from the German side. Therefore, we strive to build cooperation across various fields of society."

Yves-Oliver Tauschwitz, German language expert from the Goethe-Institut in Armenia, noted that cooperation with Armenian partners has made it possible to organize numerous events that have contributed to the promotion of the German language, the development of teaching methodology, and the establishment of new connections.
On the initiative of the Chair of German Philology of the YSU Faculty of European Languages and Communication and the Goethe-Institut's official partner—the German Language Teaching Center—events are regularly organized to promote the German language and German culture in Armenia, as well as to bring together teachers and lecturers of German, and students and pupils learning the language.
The meeting was attended by Naira Mnatsakanyan, Deputy Head of the Division at the International Cooperation Office; Associate Professor Gayane Savoyan, Head of the Chair of German Philology of the Faculty of European Languages and Communication; and Meri Navasardyan, Executive Director of the German Business Association in Armenia and lecturer.
