Delegation from Ural Federal University visits YSU
YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan today welcomed a delegation from Ural Federal University (UrFU), comprised of Vice-Rector for International Relations Sergey Tushin and Executive Director of the Alumni Association Alexander Ponomaryov.
The visit, prompted by the need to reaffirm bilateral commitments, included discussions between Rector Hovhannisyan, Head of the International Cooperation Office Alexander Margarov, and the Russian counterparts on a range of issues of shared interest.
Rector Hovhannisyan noted that more than a decade has passed since the cooperation agreement between the two universities was signed in 2011. He welcomed the delegation's readiness to reaffirm and further develop collaboration between the institutions.
Sergey Tushin, Vice-Rector for International Relations at UrFU, spoke about the significant infrastructural developments at UrFU in recent years. He emphasized that, in response to technological progress, engineering disciplines have become a priority in the university's educational strategy. Given that the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and information technologies (IT) is a strategic priority for both YSU and UrFU, promising opportunities for collaboration in these and related fields were identified.
The parties agreed that an important step toward realizing the potential of academic and scientific cooperation is the joint development and implementation of educational and research innovation projects, as well as student and researcher exchange programs.
During the meeting, the parties highlighted several priority areas for fundamental and applied research in key fields of science and technology, including informatics, chemistry, pharmacy, and economics (business administration and international management).
To elevate cooperation to a new level and achieve the outlined goals, both universities agreed to take the necessary practical measures.
