YSU delegation shares curriculum reform experience in Brașov
A delegation from Yerevan State University paid an official visit to Brașov, Romania, to participate in an international workshop held at Transilvania University under the Erasmus+ (KA2) "Reforming Undergraduate Education for Green and Sustainable Development in Armenia and Moldova" (RE-GRAD) project. The workshop focused on presenting interim results from the pilot implementation of revised undergraduate programs and discussing modern approaches to education for green and sustainable development.
The YSU delegation presented changes introduced in the "Biology" and "Public Policy and Management" bachelor's programs, based on the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and green skills. Presenters also touched upon innovative teaching approaches, including the application of outcome-based education principles, the introduction of practical and interdisciplinary methods, and the effective use of digital learning tools.
It was emphasized that the revised programs aim not only to deliver theoretical knowledge but also to develop students' analytical and critical thinking, as well as practical skills, particularly in addressing sustainable development and environmental challenges.
The workshop paid particular attention to structural changes in programs, the clear formulation of learning outcomes, and alignment with current labor market demands. Interim results from the pilot implementation indicated that integrating SDGs and modernizing teaching methods enhances student engagement and improves learning outcomes. At the same time, speakers noted challenges related to program implementation, adaptation to new educational formats, and ongoing development of institutional capacities.
Delegations from the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, the Technical University of Moldova, and Cahul State University also shared experiences in implementing educational reforms at their institutions.
Participation in such international initiatives provides YSU staff with opportunities to learn from European practices in curriculum modernization, strengthen cooperation with partner universities, and continuously improve bachelor's programs through the integration of green and sustainable development principles.
The initiative also supports the enhancement of teaching methods, the development of joint research projects, and the strengthening of the university's international visibility, particularly within the framework of the Erasmus+ RE-GRAD project.
