YSU welcomes international students from universities around the world

At the initiative of the International Cooperation Office, the university organized a welcome event for international students, during which they were introduced to YSU's infrastructure, faculties, educational and assessment systems, and the opportunities offered by the university. 

According to Grisha Gasparyan, Deputy Head of the Division of Foreign Students’ Education Organization at the university's International Cooperation Office, the students arrived in Armenia through Erasmus+ and various interuniversity cooperation programs. 

"The visiting students include bachelor's and master's students, as well as a PhD student. They study here under individual academic programs, choosing subjects that correspond to their fields of study and courses they are already taking at their home universities," he said. 

The students have selected courses from various YSU faculties, including Russian Philology, Oriental Studies, Journalism, International Relations, Biology, and Geography and Geology.

This semester, the international students represent a broad range of countries, including Italy, France, China, Russia and others. Gasparyan noted that they come from prestigious universities, including the Paris Institute of Political Studies and the universities of Bologna, Ca' Foscari University of Venice, Geneva and Warsaw.

A cultural program was also organized for the international students. They visited the YSU History Museum, where they learned about the university's history spanning more than a century, and attended a musical event organized especially for them at the Charles Aznavour Cultural Centre.

During the event, the YSU Band celebrated the meeting of different cultures by opening the musical evening with the traditional Armenian song Broyi-broyi. The band also performed Galis es, Bingyol, Nubar, Gutan, I Hate Myself for Loving You, Another Brick in the Wall and other pieces.
