New prospects for scientific cooperation: Guizhou Academy of Sciences delegation visits YSU
YSU hosted a delegation from the Guizhou Academy of Sciences of the People's Republic of China. During the meeting, the two sides presented their research and educational capacities, discussed their existing cooperation and explored opportunities and priority areas for further collaboration in science, education and innovation. The meeting concluded with the signing of a cooperation agreement.
Alexander Markarov, Head of the YSU International Cooperation Office, noted that mutually beneficial cooperation between the university and its Chinese partners has grown in recent years. An important part of this cooperation has been visits by YSU representatives to China and their participation in professional development programs. According to Markarov, such visits enable specialists from across the university to gain new knowledge, develop their professional skills and lay the groundwork for further cooperation.
YSU's research and educational capacities
At the start of the meeting, Markarov briefed the delegation on Yerevan State University's history, structure, educational and research activities, international research publications and grant programs. He also outlined the university's key development priorities: internationalization, innovation, social engagement and sustainable development.
Guizhou Academy of Sciences: broad research capacities
In presenting the work of the Guizhou Academy of Sciences, delegation members noted that the academy was founded in 1935 and has a history spanning more than nine decades. It has 16 research centers working across a range of scientific fields.
According to the information presented, the academy employs around 1,180 people, including more than 900 researchers working in specialized fields. The academy also runs programs and specialized centers aimed at developing highly qualified specialists and strengthening its research capacity.
"Our goal is to cooperate and create new opportunities for both sides," said Wang Yun, Wang Yun, Head of the External Cooperation Department at the Guizhou Academy of Sciences, inviting YSU specialists to visit the academy.
Cooperation agreement and joint work program
One of the key topics discussed at the meeting was the signing of a cooperation agreement between Yerevan State University and the Guizhou Academy of Sciences
The agreement provides for expanded cooperation in research and education, with the two sides identifying specific areas and programs for joint work. Particular attention will be given to joint research, stronger links between specialists and researchers, the exchange of experience and knowledge, and potential joint initiatives in nanotechnology, materials science and other fields.
"Defining the goal and planning how to achieve it are a significant part of success," Markarov added.
Representatives of the Guizhou Academy of Sciences spoke highly of YSU's educational and research capabilities, noting that the university's wide-ranging activities and broad academic profile create numerous opportunities for cooperation
At the end of the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their readiness to further develop cooperation, stressing the importance of continued official and working-level contacts.
Following the meeting, members of the Guizhou Academy of Sciences delegation toured the research laboratories of the YSU Institute of Physics, where they learned about ongoing research, scientific infrastructure and the laboratories' main areas of work.
