Professor Hasmik Gevorgyan awarded YSU Gold Medal
In recognition of her 40 years of impeccable service, diligent work, significant contributions at Yerevan State University, and on the occasion of her 70th birthday, Professor Hasmik Gevorgyan, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences and Professor at the Chair of Applied Sociology, was awarded YSU Gold Medal.

Professor Hasmik Gevorgyan from the Chair of Applied Sociology at YSU Faculty of Sociology has dedicated over four decades of her knowledge and expertise to the university, educating numerous generations of students. She has played a vital role in the establishment and development of the Department of Applied Sociology at YSU, contributing to the introduction of contemporary educational methods and scientific approaches.
During the award ceremony, YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan highly praised Hasmik Gevorgyan’s professional achievements and long-standing contributions, emphasizing her impact on the advancement of sociological education.
"The university always proudly honors its devoted members and greatly appreciates the work they have performed over the years—dedicating a part of their lives to the university, serving in one institution for many years, and carrying out important work. This award is a symbol of our gratitude to you," said the rector.
Artur Mkrtichyan, Dean of YSU Faculty of Sociology, highlighted Professor Hasmik Gevorgyan’s esteemed reputation and significant contributions to the faculty’s development and academic life. He noted that the professor uses engaging and creative methods in her work with students. Enumerating her important achievements, the dean noted that Professor Gevorgyan has supervised three to four doctoral dissertations, authored a monograph based on women’s histories, and has conducted multifaceted activities at the university over the years, combining educational, scientific, and organizational work.
"The professor also possesses extensive experience in international cooperation, establishing fruitful connections with universities and scientific institutions in various countries and implementing new educational programs," he emphasized.
Professor Gevorgyan expressed her gratitude for the high honor, noting she is deeply touched and feels inspired to continue her dedicated work at her beloved university.
Hasmik Gevorgyan is one of the founding members of the Chair of Applied Sociology at YSU, which further underscores her important role in the history of the chair’s and faculty’s development.
