On August 31, 2026, at 12:00, the YSU Institute of Pharmacy will host Dr. Danuta Witkowska, Professor at the Institute of Health Sciences, University of Opole, Poland, who will give a lecture titled "From Bacterial Chaperones to Cancer Targets: Chasing Molecular Interactions".
Professor Danuta Witkowska (H-index: 19, Scopus) has authored more than 40 scientific publications.
Professor Witkowska's research spans the interconnected fields of bioinorganic chemistry, biophysics and biomedicine. Much of her work focuses on the coordination interactions of Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) ions with histidine- and cysteine-rich protein fragments and antimicrobial peptides. Her research interests also include the thermodynamic properties of protein-protein and protein-receptor interactions, as well as the effects of heavy metals and their potential biological consequences for human health.
The lecture will be delivered in English.
Admission is free.
