The first "Protection of Armenia's State Interests" student moot court competition, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of former Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Artavazd Gevorgyan, is being launched through cooperation between the YSU Legal Laboratory, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law.
Students from law faculties at Armenian universities will have the opportunity to test their knowledge and professional skills in a format closely resembling real court proceedings by taking part in the first "Protection of Armenia's State Interests" student moot court competition.
The competition aims to develop students' skills in legal research, identifying legal issues and devising solutions, deepen their knowledge of prosecutorial powers in the protection of state and community interests, and foster a culture of integrity, professional ethics and fair competition among students.
The competition consists of written and oral rounds. During the written round, each team will submit arguments on behalf of both the claimant and the respondent, while the oral stage will comprise preliminary, semifinal and final rounds.
The competition is open to third- and fourth-year students of law faculties at Armenian universities, including master's and PhD students, as well as those of institutions offering legal studies. Each team may consist of two to five members, and no more than four teams may participate from any one university.
The winning and runner-up teams will receive awards, while individual and professional prizes will also be presented in the "Best Written Submission" and "Best Speaker" categories.
The deadline for submitting team applications is September 16 at 00:00.
