A roundtable titled “Current Issues of the Political and Economic Aspects of Modern Armenian-Russian Relations” was held in reading hall 503 of the Sargis and Marie Izmirlian Library at Yerevan State University (YSU). The goal of the roundtable was to subject the informational flows and the assessments of the two countries’ positions towards each other regarding modern Armenian-Russian relations to political and economic analysis.

The event was organized through the joint initiative of the Center for Russian Studies of the YSU Faculty of International Relations and the National Research Institute of Communications Development (Moscow).
The roundtable was moderated by Valentina Komleva, Deputy Director of the National Research Institute of Communications Development (NRICD), Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor, and Aram Safaryan, Director of the Center for Russian Studies (CRS), Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor.
The discussion was attended by well-known Armenian and Russian economists, political scientists, sociologists, international relations specialists, orientalists, prominent public figures, and experts. The participation of a group of high-achieving students was also considered important.

Economist, Professor Tatul Manaseryan delivered a report on the condition of the Armenian economy in 2025 in the context of the country’s membership in the EAEU. He underscored the fundamental importance of Armenian-Russian trade and economic relations for the economy and social sector of Armenia.
Associate Professor, Economist Aghasi Tavadyan presented the significance of bilateral trade for the development of the Armenian economy and offered some economic forecasts regarding the future development of trade and economic relations within the EAEU framework.
Sociologist, Academician Gevorg Poghosyan analyzed data from recent sociological surveys on the attitude of Armenian society towards Russia. He assessed the dynamics of the information contained in these surveys and pointed out the reasons for current public orientations.

Political Scientist, Professor Garik Keryan analyzed recent political contacts and the official positions of the Armenian authorities regarding the development of relations with Russia.
The attendees listened with interest to the speech of Vladimir Frantsuzov, Head of the Programs Department at NRICD, on the topic “West-Armenia-Russia”, and then actively participated in the political discussions that followed the presentation. Associate Professor A. Safaryan and Professor V. Komleva summarized the roundtable.

It should be added that this was the third roundtable held this year, organized within the framework of the cooperation between the Center for Russian Studies and its Moscow partner. The researchers who arrived from Moscow will also participate in the Second International Scientific Conference organized by the YSU Faculty of International Relations on October 9-10.
The participants of the roundtable highly appreciated the current level of cooperation between YSU and NRICD and presented proposals for outlining new directions for cooperation.
