A presentation and discussion of the results of the research conducted within the framework of the "Armenia's Image and Perceptions in the Arab World through Arab Media" project took place in the conference hall of the Institute for Armenian Studies (IAS), Yerevan State University.
The research was carried out with the financial support of the "Research Assistance Program for Young Scholars" of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia. The project was led by PhD Mushegh Ghahriyan, with research team members Ruzanna Gasparyan, a junior researcher at the IAS, and PhD student Taron Arakelyan.
During the discussion, the participants presented the key findings and observations of the research, which focused on the specific features of Al Jazeera's and Al Arabiya's coverage of the 44-day war.
The participants also provided a comprehensive overview of the perceptions of Armenia shaped by Arab media and assessed the role of media analysis in the process of forming international public perceptions.
The report presented in detail how the two leading Arab news agencies presented the parties to the conflict, how they covered the involvement of third parties—including regional and global actors—and to what extent their media discourse was influenced by the foreign policy positions of Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
