On January 14 of this year, the Institute of Pharmacy at Yerevan State University hosted internationally renowned scientist Professor Paul Cos, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical, Biomedical, and Veterinary Sciences at the University of Antwerp, Belgium.
Professor Cos is a leading expert in microbiology and serves as the director business & policy of the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS). His scientific work is outstanding, marked by exceptional accomplishments: according to Scopus, he has authored over 300 scientific publications, with an h-index of 60.
The professor's visit provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the educational and research potential of the YSU Institute of Pharmacy, as well as to identify areas of mutual interest for collaboration.
During the visit, Professor Cos toured the institute's structural divisions and became acquainted with its modern, fully equipped teaching and research laboratories, where work is carried out on pharmaceutical formulations and active ingredients, including their quality control and assessment of biological activity.
In an official meeting held as part of the visit, prospective areas for expanding bilateral cooperation were discussed in detail. Key topics included opportunities for student and faculty exchanges under the Erasmus+ program, preparation and implementation of joint scientific projects through international grant platforms such as Horizon Europe and FEMS, and collaborative research in the field of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
This visit marked another significant step in YSU's internationalization strategy, promoting the integration of Armenian scientific research into leading European research networks.
